Cole: We only have two days left to stop a paradox that will destroy the world, and we don't have a single lead.
Cassie: You sure about this one?
Cole: He's not Primary.
Cassie: Did you look at all the drawings? Maybe there was some kind of a code or a pattern. Did you go through every single page?
Cole: Yeah, the ones that weren't stuck together. Trust me, it's not him.
Cassie: Sometimes you miss things.
Cole: Really? Does that make me stupid or a liar? Neither one changes the fact the guy's not Primary.
うん。ある意味また見逃しちゃってたよね...。
Cole: Cass. I know you can't hear me. I'm sorry. It's my fault. I couldn't stop it. The best thing that can happen now is for you to wake up and forget you ever knew me.
全ての責めをコールたんが負うことはないと思うのだけれど、結局誰一人救えなかったという風には考えちゃうよね。でもキャシーが目の前でまだ生きているし。それだけはコールたんにとって大きな救いなのではという気もする。
でもキャシーの死に場所が揺るがないのであれば、この時代にとどまったままでいることも叶わなさそう。
Cassie: Where are you right now? Someplace warm? Safe? Next to someone you love?
キャシーの前から姿を消したコールたん。
Cole: What are you doing here?
Cassie: What are you doing here?
Cole: The house? It's mine. I bought it.
Cassie: Why this house?
Cole: I was driving by, saw the "for sale" sign. It needs a lot of work. The hospital. They weren't sure if you were ever gonna wake up. But I knew you would.
Cassie: Why did you go?
Cole: I couldn't do it. Not after.
Cassie: So you ran?
Cole: I did what I always told you I was gonna do. I found a place for you to be happy. I mean, look around. There's no plague here. There's no Red Forest. You're safe. You can live a life.
Cassie: So that's it? After all of that, we just forget about the future? I don't know what else to do.
Cole: I'm done trying to figure out the answer to everything. We failed. For some reason, we're still here.
Cassie: You being here, doesn't make sense.
Cole: I'm also done trying to make sense of everything. You should be too. You can hate me for leaving. But I did it for you.
Cassie: No, you didn't.You did it for you because you're afraid.
Cassie: You're bleeding.
Cole: It's nothing.
Cassie: Do you have running water at least?
Cole: Yeah.
Cassie: Easy. We have to wash it first. It's not as bad as it looked.
Cole: Just bled a lot.
(Olivia: Most of the blood has washed away.)
Cole: What is it? [tense music]
Cassie: I know this room.
Cole: How?
(Olivia: You're walking through a Red Forest. The grass is tall. It's just rained. Most of the blood has washed away. There's a house in the distance. Cedar and pine. You've been there before. I've been here before. You're not alone. There is a man. You see him. Go to him. Know him. Like a memory of tomorrow.)
Cassie: Like a memory of tomorrow. They knew this place. This moment. You.
Cole: What are you talking about?
この家と目撃者とコールたん。コールたんがこれから目撃者となっていくということなのか。未来でラムジーはタイタンでマスクの下にコールたんを見つけてしまうことになるのか？
シーズン1の頃からウィルスの元となったあの骨がコールたんなのではないかという不安があった。ナイトルームやホワイトドラゴンでも骨のそばに近づいたら頭痛を起こしていたから。どういう経路でそうなるのかは全然想像つかなかったけれど、もしそういう運命がコールたんに待ち受けているのだったら悲しすぎると思った。
あの家をコールたんが買って修理して。全てはコールたんに関係しているとわかって、もちろんコールたんには何かあることは明らかだったけれど、この流れでいけばコールたんが目撃者だということになる。でも、もしコールたんがいずれ目撃者になるのだとしたら、どんな絶望が彼をそれに駆り立てたのかということになる。
でもコールたんが目撃者ならジェニファーはコールたんのことをあんなに一生懸命助けるということはないんじゃないかな。
Deacon: Why would you walk towards the weird music? Ramse, nothing about this place says "good idea."
Ramse: He's here. Keep moving.
ジェニファーはラムジーたちをタイタンに連れていくというチョイスをしたのに、これもバッドエンディングにつながってしまった。ジェニファーがタイタンに行ってなおかつキャシーがその旅についていったという決断をしていたなら、全てを終わらせることができたということなんだろうか。
Cole: Look outside. Time hasn't collapsed. Go. Live. For once, there's time.
Cassie: This isn't permanent. I still die at the CDC in 2018.
Cole: You don't know that. To hell with causality. You don't have to be afraid anymore! Go live a life that's not full of fear and death.
Cassie: But the world will still end.
Cole: I know Ramse. He wouldn't give up. He found Titan. He found the Witness. Until the world comes crashing down around our heads, we have to believe it's over.All of it.
Cassie: I guess you really know what you're doing here. I'll leave you to it.
Cole: Cassie!
Cassie: What? I'm leaving you alone. That's what you want.
Cole: That's not why I left.
Cassie:Then what was it?
Cole: I wanted you to be free of me.
Cassie: I never asked to be free of you. You coward, you know that's not why you left me. You left me because you're in love with me. I've always known, Cole.
Cole: And you kept pushing me away so that in the end you wouldn't have anything to lose. And now you don't.
はじめて見たときはいろんな感情が押し寄せてきてただただ呆然と見ていたような気がする。悲しいし。やっと通じ合うことができたというなんともいえない感無量感もあるし。 でもこれが崩壊のはじまりでしかないんだったら切なすぎるし。ようやくキャシーと思いを通じ合わせることができたコールたんのことを喜んでいいのか、未来を思って悲しめばいいのかわからないとても苦くせつないシーンだった。
