チェチェンで全て終わったんだと信じきって前向きに幸せになろうとしていたキャシーとアーロン。
そこにコールたんがひょっこり姿をみせたものだから、アーロンがコールたんに対して刺々しくなるのも無理はない。キャシーもコールたんの無事が嬉しくないわけでもないようだけれど残念感が勝っているのは隠し切れねぇ...
Cole: We missed something.
Aaron: We? No, you. You missed something. How is this still happening?
やりどころのない怒りをコールたんにぶつけるアーロン。いやでも、コールたんだってなかなか気の毒なんだってば...。
Cassie: Aaron, we have to.
Aaron: Why?
Cole: Look, I know this is hard for you to understand...
Aaron: No, I get it. The world is ending. You're a time traveler who doesn't know what he's doing.
Cole: Back off.
Aaron: You got her killed.
Cole: And then I got her back.
Aaron: Yeah, how many times are you gonna be able to do that? How many times does she have to die before you figure your shit out? You don't know, do you?
Cassie: Stop it.
Aaron: You're right about one thing. The future's pretty bleak if you're all they got. The fact that he's here again You have no idea how to stop this.
うん...まぁ、この作戦に使える工作員がコールたん1人しかいないというのはやっぱり問題かも。よりによって考えるのが大の苦手なコールたんが唯一の世界を救う鍵といわれればバリバリのキャリアなアーロンは腹しかたたねーだろうよねぇ。
Cassie: So what happens now?
Cole: I don't know.
Cassie: At least before, I had hope that we could beat this.
Cole: Yeah, well, nothing stays the same.
Cassie: I went looking for you in Chechnya.
Cole: I know you did.
Cassie: What happened?
Cole: I ever tell you about Ramse?
Cassie: You grew up together on the outside. You're like brothers. You look worried.

どことなくキャシーもコールたんに冷たい。コールたんがキャシーの死をみとってどんなに辛い思いをしたかなんてことは微塵も想像してないんだろうなぁ。まぁ、コールたんも今はちょっとラムジの離反の方が気になっている様子。裏切りはショックだったろうけれど、自分がいない間にラムジーの身に何かあったらどうしようかっていう心配の方が大きそう。
Cole: Wexler told me about this place. He knew about the 12 Monkeys. They're connected to this place somehow. 1987 that's the date Leland Goines said he met me before.
Cassie: But that hasn't happened for you yet.
Cole: No, but it will. I think this is it. This is where it all started. We found it.
Cassie: Good for us.
Cole: Listen, this is the only connection we have to Peters. I need you to help me find him, Cassie.
Cassie: It'll be my pleasure.
Cole: I don't think that's helping you.
Cassie: If Peters is recreating M5-10 for the 12 Monkeys, he'll need animals to test it on. CDC can get a list of suppliers, and then I'll be able to track him down. Just like the Big Burn and the Night Room. Then splinter, apocalypse, rinse, repeat.
Cole: Hey, what is this?
Cassie: What are you doing? You're not supposed to be here.
Cole: You think I want to be?
Cassie: Go. I'll find Peters. See you soon. Maybe.
Cole: What's that supposed to mean?

やっぱりキャシーがコールたんに冷めきっている。なんかもうコイツは死にかけているし、アテにできないと見切りをつけられている気配も感じられないことはない。コールたん、めげずに任務を遂行しようと踏ん張っているのに周りの態度がなんだか冷たすぎますですよ。可哀想なオッター・アイくん...😢
Jones: Your condition is worsening. The splinter process has deteriorated your body further than I anticipated.
Cole: What is that thing?
Jones: It's a reconditioning system for molecular stabilization. It won't reverse the damage, but it will keep you together a while longer.

Jones: You will die trying.
コールたんの身体ももう限界。もしもエレナや子供のことがなければ、ラムジーはコールたんを救うためにジョーンズに刃向かおうするんじゃないかしら。それとも最後の最後までコールたんを見守るかなぁ。コールたんもキャシーのことがなければラムジーの味方になってそうな気がするんだけど...。なんてったってラムジーはコールたんのモラルコンパスだし。
Cole: You find Ramse?
Jones: Do you know where he might be?
Cole: Maybe.
Jones: Tell me. I'll send Mr.Whitley.
Cole: It should be me.
Jones: You have to take this treatment now. We'll take care of Mr.Ramse.
Cole: He's just trying to protect Elena and his kid.
Jones: At this point, we cannot let your friendship stand in the way of this mission. Where's Ramse?
Cole: Tell me he won't get hurt.
Jones: Why would that matter if you are successful?
Cole: Because getting Ramse killed can't be the last thing I do here.
Jones: You have my word.
もしも身体が許すならコールたんはラムジーとゆっくり話あいたかっただろうし、エレナさんやサミュエルくんにも会いたかったんじゃないかな。会ってからどうするべきか決断してたんじゃないかと思う。
Jones: Those injections it's our last supply. We don't have any material to make more. But we also need Cole's continued cooperation. So that means Ramse stays alive.
Whitely: That might not be so easy.
Jones: I didn't say it was easy. You know, anything we do, even if we undo it, it happened nonetheless in God's eyes.
Whitely: That sounds like Foster. You getting superstitious on me?
Jones: I don't think that God's wrath requires my belief.
Whitely: What if I have to choose? Injections or Ramse?
Jones: We need those injections.
ジョーンズのこれは酷いなと思った。もしもラムジーに何かあってもコールたんには言わないで嘘ついて任務続けさせるつもりかなと思うと、やっぱりジョーンズはコールたんのこと道具としてしかみなしてないのかって、無性に腹たったなぁ。

Ramse: What are you talking about? What work?

Ramse: You know Cole?

なーんと、なんとジェニファーが2043年に！嬉しかったのは相変わらずコールたんの味方っぽいということと、ラムジーともいつかいい友達になるって言ってるところ。これってちょっとコールたんとラムジーの関係に希望をもっていいってことだと信じたい〜。
Ramse: I know what happened to your mom. It's not fair. It's not right. It's what it is. You're not alone. You always got me. Always gonna protect you. Always. I gotta do something. And I gotta go away for a little bit. Okay? But I promise you, I'm gonna come back.
もしもラムジーがあの注射器を持ち出していなければ、少なくともエレナは死ななくてすんだと思うんだけど、でもコールたんが過去を変えることに成功してしまえばサミュエルくんは確実にいなくなってしまう...。でも、もしかしたら疫病の消えた世界でもラムジーはエレナさんと出会ってサミュエルが生まれるっていう運命はかわらないかもしれないじゃなーい。しかもここでサミュエルくん一人にするのは可哀想すぎると思うんだが。お母さん亡くしたばかりで頼れるのはラムジー、お父さんであるあなただけなのにー。
Whitely: It was an accident! I made it right!
Jones: Really? Is she alive again? Those injections are essential for this mission!
Whitely: They may be essential. But I'm not going after Ramse. With whatever time is left, he should be a father to that boy. You know, you're right about one thing. Someone someday will judge us for what we've done.
エレナを殺してしまうという最悪の事態。マーカスも心の中ではラムジーの気持ちが痛いほどわかってただろうし、理にかなってると思ってたに違いない。エレナを撃った仲間を即座に銃殺することもマーカスには辛い決断だったはずだ。
Whitely: Leave the case and go.
Ramse: I can't do that. I need to speak to Jones.
Whitely: What for?
Ramse: Assurance. That you'll leave me and my son alone. You got what you want. Let me talk to her.
Whitely: Hands behind your head. Look, what happened to Elena I'm sorry, Ramse.
Ramse: They told me what you did to the guy who shot Elena. I know it wasn't your fault
乗り込んできたラムジー。怒りの対象はジョーンズに集約されている様子。辛いの状況で謝る勇気のあったマーカスは偉かったと思う。まぁ、このタイミングでそんなこと言われたら余計に火に油を注ぐことになるんじゃ...と。ねぇ。
Ramse: You thought you had everybody fooled, huh? Huh? This is all over. It ends today. Move.
Max: Ramse, it's me. Leave! Now! I can't do that.
Ramse: What do you mean you can't?
Max: Ramse, I want the same thing you do. A better life, okay? For all of us.
Ramse: She took Elena from me. I'm not gonna let you take my son. She succeeds in this mission, he's gone.
Jones: Maybe he'll have a better future.
Ramse: I'm his father. "Maybe" not good enough!
Jones: Tell me, Mr. Ramse. The love that you feel for your son, can you imagine that a thousand fold? A billion. Just think of the loss across the world that hit parent after parent.
Ramse: Hannah. That's your little girl. The plague took her from you. That's what this is for you. The plague happened. My son is the future. Your daughter, she's the past.
2043年に生きている立場で考えれば、ラムジーに一票となっちゃう。大勢の命を引き合いに語られても、でももう起こったことは起こったことだし、現在進行形の出来事をなぜ過去のために犠牲にしなくてはいけないのかという疑問や不満は絶対ぬぐいきれないと思う。
ついでにラムジーにしてみれば、これまでにジョーンズから受けてきた蔑むような態度のこともずっと腹がたっていただろうし、コールたんがどんどん傷ついて衰弱していくのを見守ることしかできなかったもどかしさや苛立たしさも溜まっていただろうし、さらにはジョーンズがコールたんを洗脳してしまったぐらいのことも思っているかも。しかもそもそも、コールたんにこの任務を引き受けるように言ったのラムジーだし。あの時、コールたんと出ていっていればジョーンズと関わることなくエレナと再会できてた可能性だってあったのにとか、もうジョーンズには腹しかたたない気持ちはわかる。すごくわかる。でもマックスを殺したのはどうなんだ。息子を守るためには手段を選ばないっていうことなんだろうけれど。
Aaron: And I get it.
Cassie: You do? Helping to destroy the world to save just one person?
Aaron: One person that you love. In the end, isn't that all that matters?
アーロンは核心をついている。自分が愛する人をまもりたいという気持ちがどうしたって最優先される。そのためでもなければ自分の命もかけられなければ、誰かを殺すなど手も汚せないんじゃないかと思う。
Jones: James if Mr. Ramse survives the jump, he's going to try and stop you.
Cole: And when he does, I'm gonna kill him.
コールたんにこんな悲しいことを言わせてしまったのは、マックスをラムジーが殺したせいだと思う。
ウエスト7にいた頃、コールたんとマックスは恋人同士で、コールたんはマックスのことを大切に思っていたにも関わらず、ラムジーの命を救うためにウエスト7に彼女を置き去りにしたわけだもん。ディーコンから逃げ切れると思っていなかったのが一番の理由だけど、ウエスト7にとどまることがどれだけ酷なことかもコールたんは理解してたわけだし。しかも7年経過してもマックスはコールたんに想いを残していて、ディーコンを裏切ってコールたんの命を助けてくれたわけだし、マックスがいなければコールたんはラムジーの命を救うことだってできなかったわけで。コールたんはマックスに幸せになって欲しかったはずだ。13歳で両親が死んでからずっとウエスト7として生きてこなければいけなかったマックス。ギリギリまでコールたんやジョーンズのことを守るために立ちはだかってくれて。こんな悲しい死なせ方は理不尽すぎるとコールたん、怒ったに違いないんだ。自分やラムジーに対して。過去をリセットできればマックスも両親の下でもっと幸せに暮らせて、人殺しなんかしなくていい幸せな人生をおくれるはず。彼女のためにも任務をやりとげなくてはと決意を固くする要因の一つに絶対なってると思う。それを邪魔するならラムジーにも容赦しない。
一番殺し合いなんかしたくない相手なのに、コールたんにここまで思わせてしまったラムジー。なんかこのままこの二人が敵同士になってしまうのは辛すぎる......でも、カーク・アセヴェドだからなあああああ。（裏切り上等十八番な俳優さんだとコールたんとツーショットではじめて登場された時から不安があよぎりまくっていましたが...やっぱりかああ😭）
